Encourage yourself to walk more!

Published by sherpherdmom at 10:02 am under Health, Living Edit This

Strap on a pedometer, this is a great fitness tool and shows you just how much you walk. People who wear this inexpensive little tool increase their daily step tremendously!

Get started: you can’t place your pedometer just anywhere. To make sure it works correctly attach it to your waistband or belt; directly in line with your knee. It should be upright and shouldn’t hang off your clothing. If it shifts sit so that it’s no longer horizontal to the ground, it will give you an incorrect count.

Test you pedometer: set the pedometer to zero and walk 50 steps. See if the number on the pedometer matches the count.  If the reading is off by more than 5 steps in either direction, it is not working right. Adjust the placement of your pedometer and try again.

Getting the most out of your day: determine your average number of steps per day by recording them for a week and then divide that total by 7. Try to add 2,000 steps per day to your average. Find simple opportunities to increase your steps. Make every single step count and you’ll like the results!
