Book Review: Black Rose by Nora Roberts
I did not realize, until I was finished with this book, that it is actually a part of a series. Its called “In the Garden” Trilogy. This book, I’m pretty sure is the 2rd book in the series. I did not have a problem understanding what was going on so I think these books may be written so they can be read out of order.
Black Rose is pretty easy to follow. There are a few names to learn but Nora Roberts does a great job at introducing each character and they are pretty easy to keep separate. I love the descriptions of the house and the beautiful gardens.
Rosalind Harper is the main character in the book. She is the owner of the house that has been in her family for generations. She has three sons, one of which lives with her at the Harper House and helps her with her garden business. Their father died when they were young leaving Rosalind to raise the three boys alone. All the boys are now grown but they still remain close. There are several other employees who live there and become part of Rosalind’s extended family.
There is one resident in the house that is not a normal one. This resident is a ghost that is linked somehow to Rosalind’s family but she is not listed in any of the family records. Roz hires a man, Mitch, to do some research and find information about this ghost. The research takes them through some obstacles and hurdles, and yes you guessed it, though she is very independent and strong, they fall in love. The book was a great book. It has one of those really feel good endings.
